Our client, a global development company, is looking for a Materials/ Dev Scientist to work on an exciting project involving cutting-edge technology linked to sustainable power (solid state), which could be a game changer in various industries. Working in the innovation centre of excellence, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in this project. The Role: Perform basic experimental and technical investigations towards the acquisition of new knowledge (XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES, and Ionic Conductivity). Design chemical, physical, and engineering protocols for laboratory-scale tests with a view to proving fitness-for-use, product specifications, or process validation. Oversight of testing may be required. Interpret and report test results with implications for further design. Lead full-scale up (100kg batch production). Choose, specify, and acquire all equipment and consumables related to said technical activity. Schedule and undertake equipment maintenance and calibration. Perform risk assessments on new tests and equipment prior to use. Form links with external suppliers to conduct proving trials with their products. Establish the need for technology change. Apply stage gate methodology to projects. Actively participate in ThinkSAFE, Take 5, and other safety-related initiatives and reporting requirements. Actively develop IP and maintain project IP within a very limited scope of disclosure. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, Risk & Compliance regulations. The Person: PhD in Materials/Chemistry or a similar subject, or significant industry experience with a BSc, BEng, MSc (STEM). Experience with ceramic applications. Experience in (but not limited to) XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES, IC. Scale-up experience (physical/materials/powder synthesis) at both small and large scales. Working knowledge of Stage Gate methodology and other PMO tools. Important Information:
