Do you like the idea of using your skills in a rewarding and fulfilling way to help women and their families at a crucial point in their lives? We know that providing person-centred care and intervention can impact significantly on the quality of life for women as well as their children and families.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit 2.6 FTE CBT Therapists to support the development of a new Maternal Mental Health Service across Humber and North Yorkshire. This is a unique opportunity to be part of this crucial service which will consist of a small MDT team including a range of therapists.

As an important member of the team, you will uphold the values of promoting women and family centred care whilst ensuring child protection and welfare of the family. You will strive to improve public health by endeavouring to reduce mental health morbidity in mothers through interagency working and communication and fostering collaborative working.

You will aim to raise awareness and competence by delivering education and training events targeted at key professional groups and consider opportunities to collaborate with academic institutions and other key stakeholders in researching maternal mental health.

Please note that we are recruiting candidates that are BABCP accredited.

Main Duties of the Job The Humber and North Yorkshire service will identify and assess moderate-severe/complex mental health needs associated with loss in the maternity context and will provide specialist advice and signposting, as well as targeted interventions.

This may include but is not limited to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following perinatal loss which includes recurrent miscarriage, termination for medical reasons, ectopic pregnancies, unsuccessful IVF treatment, stillbirth, or neonatal death. The service will also support women with a severe fear of childbirth (tokophobia) if the woman is not currently pregnant.

The service is intended to provide consultation, advice, formulation, and targeted interventions for those whose needs cannot be met by other services, for example, Primary Care Services including Talking Therapies, Maternity and third sector-based bereavement services. The service is also intended for women with needs that do not meet the criteria of the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services.
