As a key member of the Senior Divisional leadership team, you will need to work collaboratively with the Divisional Director, Clinical Director, Business and Service managers, and the multidisciplinary teams.
The post holder will be responsible for the inpatients and outpatient areas at both Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites. You will be required to demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, manage complaints, promote and support best practice, and set professional standards.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be proactive, have a proven track record of quality improvement, and ensure that service needs and patient experience are met to the high standards we aspire to.
Therefore, it is essential that the Matron possesses high-level skills to provide advice on professional issues, patient safety, and quality, along with the relevant clinical expertise and leadership skills that the post requires. They are expected to provide operational support to the daily pressures of the NHS, provide supervision, guidance, leadership, and management to ward managers, nursing teams, and specialist nurses. Ensuring a high-quality and safe patient environment is maintained.
Main duties of the job You will be required to demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, manage complaints, promote and support best practice, and set professional standards.
The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership and line management to the clinical teams, reporting to the Deputy Director of Midwifery and Gynae Service, accountable to the Director of Midwifery and Gynae Service. The post holder will ensure the key functions of the modern matron are undertaken for the directorate. Demonstrate effective leadership, setting, monitoring, and maintaining professional standards, working collaboratively, managing complaints, and leading the nursing contribution for clinical governance at a specialty/department level in line with the Nursing & Midwifery Strategy.
Be an integral member of the senior leadership team, providing nursing advice, managing specialty nursing teams, having delegated budgetary responsibility, and contributing to innovative solutions to workforce & capacity management.
Take responsibility for human and financial resources, contributing to key performance outcomes within the directorate. Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
