Full time
We are pleased to be able to offer a secondment opportunity as Gynaecology Matron Trust wide, a pivotal new role within our nursing structure in Women's Health. The current secondment is coming to an end on the 31st March 2025 as the post holder will be returning to their substantive role and we are not in a position to recruit permanently until a workforce review is completed.

It is essential that you have the required post registration experience for this post and that you possess excellent communication skills, are flexible, and enjoy working within a busy, enthusiastic team.

As a key member of the Gynaecology Directorate Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology and Senior Operational Manager for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in setting the direction of our service. You will work alongside the Lead Nurses for Hysteroscopy and Colposcopy and directly manage the Clinic Managers and Specialist Nurses as the service develops. We do not have inpatient beds within the Family Health Care Group but collaborate closely with our surgical colleagues to ensure we are providing the best possible care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced leader who will provide assurances to the Associate Chief Nurse on the quality aspects of care and manage the risks, workforce, infection prevention control, and running of the service with a focus on safety and quality, placing the patients' experience as central to our vision. There is opportunity for quality improvement projects, maintaining staff morale, growing our next leaders, responding to Care Quality Commission recommendations, and progressing national and local guidance.

This Matron post is key to the operational functioning of the Gynaecology Outpatients / Ambulatory Service. The Matron will support the service through strong clinical leadership and effective management to achieve high standards of care and quality assurance at both regional and national levels. The post holder will need to provide specialist clinical knowledge and expertise in their related field and manage the specialist nurses as appropriate to each specialist area within the gynaecology team.

The role has a clinical component and managerial responsibilities. The post holder will be a positive visible role model, influencing best practice from the clinical base and supporting colleagues through mentorship, appraisal, and support of professional practice.

If you have a passion to provide the very best care to our patients alongside our team, we would love to hear from you.
