Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Matron Post within the Medical Care Group, working as the Matron for Frailty on the Scarborough site.
This post will have the opportunity to directly influence and improve the care of patients on our journey to excellence.
The Matron role is to provide professional and clinical leadership for all the nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of patient focused high quality standards of care to ensure patient safety and a positive patient experience, supporting the delivery of national and local strategic and operational service objectives.
Main duties of the job The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate effective professional compassionate leadership, alongside being a competent accountable clinical practitioner who has excellent clinical and leadership skills, and be a role model for the nursing workforce for implementing and sustaining change and patient centred care.
You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about the delivery of innovative safe patient centred care. To carry out this role you must have proven management and leadership experience within the acute hospital setting. You will be expected to contribute to the Trust's Duty Matron rota which includes out of hours working on site.

Person specification Education, Qualifications and Training
Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Midwife (as appropriate)
Masters level qualification in health care leadership or in a relevant nursing speciality or equivalent qualifications or knowledge (see below) or willing to work towards
Experience
At least 3 years at senior level in nursing
Additional specialised knowledge of healthcare leadership acquired through experience combined with demonstrable evidence of specialist work, short courses and extended self-study
Experience of managing staff
Budgetary skills
Change Management
Experience in relevant speciality

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for.
