Role Overview: As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. With a mechanical or electrical bias, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This hybrid role provides a flexible working arrangement, with a mix of office-based work (South Birmingham), home working, and occasional site visits as required.
Key Responsibilities: Project Delivery:
Support the end-to-end delivery of water infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with client specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Manage and coordinate design, procurement, and installation activities for mechanical or electrical systems.
Technical Oversight:
Review and approve technical designs, risk assessments, and method statements. Resolve technical challenges during construction, liaising with site teams and suppliers.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships. Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and design engineers, to ensure seamless project delivery.
Site Management:
Conduct site visits to oversee installation and commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Provide technical support during testing and handover phases.
Skills and Experience: Essential: Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Proven experience as a Project Engineer in the water industry (or similar infrastructure sectors). Strong technical understanding of mechanical or electrical systems, including design, installation, and commissioning. Knowledge of relevant industry standards, including health and safety regulations. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for occasional site visits. Desirable: Familiarity with water-specific regulations (e.g., WIMES). Experience with project management software tools. Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., CEng).
