Our client, a precision engineering company, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their team in Hailsham.

The main purpose of the role: As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling UHV Manipulation and sample handling sub-assemblies, including pre-test data recording and QC evaluation in our UHV Cleanroom.

In addition to this, you will: Assume responsibility for precision hand assembly of instruments in accordance with engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions. Carry out specialist UHV compatible instrument wiring and electrical pre-testing of instruments. Maintain "UHV clean" process standards with all "in vacuum" component parts and sub-assemblies. Support the transition of new hardware from NPI through to routine production, including writing any required manufacturing information documents and guides. Maintain and update existing manufacturing instructions. Support the maintenance of departmental records, particularly test data, quality control information, and serial numbering of instruments to provide a navigable history of future service and support. To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have: Education/Qualifications: Ideally, a relevant engineering degree/HND/HNC (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering), QBE, or time-served apprenticeship candidates can be considered. Previous experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment or cleanroom. Familiarity with the production of UHV-compatible devices and instrumentation that utilizes electron optics and ion optics principles. Previous experience in a low-volume customised product manufacturing environment is preferred, yielding a broad understanding and appreciation of precision hand fitting techniques, specialist wiring, and product test procedures. Resilience under pressure, able to adhere to the predetermined timescales and deadlines. Basic IT skills, including MS Office. Salary:

37 hour week, flexible working with a 12pm Friday finish.
