Mechanical Design Engineer | London | £40,000 to £48,000 pa

Designing innovative, bespoke solutions isn’t for everyone. It’s for people who love solving problems, experimenting with concepts, and bringing ideas to life.

If that’s you, keep reading.

This isn’t about churning out designs for off-the-shelf products. We build custom machinery and production line systems tailored to solve unique challenges for industries like logistics, pharma, food & drink, and automotive. Think robotics, conveyors, high speed automated machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC systems, all working together in a way that’s as elegant as it is efficient.

Now we need a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in London.

What you’ll be doing Turning customer requirements into detailed designs that hit the mark every time. Creating 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD, Inventor, or Solidworks (we’re flexible). Developing innovative solutions for automated machinery and special-purpose systems. Working with Bills of Materials and keeping technical documentation up to date. Collaborating with engineers and clients to ensure your designs are practical and on point. Handling everything from concept to completion, with plenty of support when you need it.

What we need from you Experience designing bespoke automated solutions, fixtures, special-purpose machinery, enclosures, conveyor systems, layout designs, or similar. Confidence working with materials and manufacturing processes (and knowing when to challenge the norm). The ability to interpret complex customer requirements and translate them into workable designs. Hands-on experience with CAD software like AutoCAD, Inventor, or Solidworks. A solid mechanical engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree/Apprenticeship). Great communication skills to liaise with both technical teams and clients.

What’s in it for you? A salary between £40,000 and £48,000, depending on your experience. The chance to work on genuinely interesting projects that make a difference. A collaborative team environment where your ideas are valued. A variety of industry sectors to challenge and grow your skills.

If you’ve got the skills and curiosity to design things that solve problems, hit "Apply", your CV will be submitted to Cognize Technical Recruitment, a specialist Automation & Technical Recruitment agency sourcing candidates for the Automation, Engineering, and Manufacturing sectors.
