The Opportunity: Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, Gorleston the Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for mechanical design including production support activities into the manufacturing environment throughout project life cycle, from initial concept through to a final product / process release. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Mechanically design machines to high standard and within timelines and cost Manage new parts and drawing control Design machines, ensuring this is done to the company standards and will meet customer expectations and requirements Liaison with suppliers on new parts Pro-actively look at implementing reductions in costs for parts/design Produce drawings for sales and manuals if required Complete all documentation on time and to a high standard Pro-actively seek and implement innovative products and technologies to further enhance machine capabilities. Produce and manage bills of materials for new projects ensuring these are within budget and meet the customer and company specifications Design in accordance with legal and safety regulations Proactively pursue personal development What you need to succeed: HNC or above engineering qualification preferred Experience within mechanical design and ideally within in a machinery manufacturing environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs CAD experience, Solidworks preferred but not essential Self-motivated individual Excellent communication, influencing and persuasive skills Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and manage time effectively Smurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) is a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions.
