Premier Engineering is working with an established engineering company in Loughborough. They are looking to expand their design team by hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a range of exciting projects, including special-purpose machinery and bespoke engineering solutions.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.). Strong experience in mechanical design, ideally within machinery or manufacturing industries. Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and assembly. Experience with engineering drawings and creating Bills of Materials (BOMs). Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: Designing and developing mechanical systems and components for various engineering projects. Creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software. Generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production and quality assurance. Conducting design reviews, testing, and validation of prototypes and finished products. Identifying opportunities for design improvements to enhance performance and cost efficiency. Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
