Position 1 Recruitment is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturing site. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering design.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful design of motors and generators, working with various engineering principles to meet project-specific requirements. You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure the product design aligns with the highest engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce parametric models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, using engineering best practices. Actively participate in the design and development of the product range, providing technical advice and instructions to departments such as Manufacturing and Testing. Undertake detailed mechanical design and analysis to ensure the integrity and quality of the product range using in-house and proprietary software. Apply value engineering principles, design for manufacture, and concurrent engineering techniques in product development. Provide technical support to the Sales Department, including offering timely information for quotations and occasionally traveling to meet customers. Assist in evaluating technical problems with installed products, potentially requiring site visits to customers for investigations. Conduct rotor dynamics and vibration analysis, including generating technical reports for customer submissions. Recommend and implement improvements to product design rules and software. Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations.

Education / Qualification Requirements: Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements: Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM or similar software. Knowledge of High Voltage Electrical Rotating Equipment. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience managing a heavy workload and making decisions in a busy environment.
