South Staffordshire, Tamworth Permanent Mechanical Design Engineer – South-East Staffordshire – SolidWorks / Special Purpose Machinery – £45k Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a very well-established special purpose machine manufacturer based in South-East Staffordshire. Key skills and experience for the Mechanical Design Engineer role include: Competent in the technical aspects of Mechanical design and development for special purpose jigs and fixtures, machine automation and machine parts (ideally using SolidWorks 3D CAD). Create BOMs, maintain accurate records of the project. Experience of designing and using fabrications as well as pneumatics and sensors. You will hold a recognised Engineering qualification. Either through an apprenticeship, HNC or up to Degree. You should be familiar with design principles such as Design for Manufacture and Lean Manufacturing. Comfortable reading and working from legacy 2D drawings, and have the ability to concept a design solution, from a short brief, onto a blank piece of paper. Good materials knowledge of steels and their heat treatment/coating. Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales. The role of the Mechanical Design Engineer will predominantly be based in the design office, with occasional trips to site.
