Our client, a key player in the manufacturing and engineering sector, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Southampton. This permanent role involves working within the R&D team, developing innovative design solutions to meet customer requirements in terms of electrical, mechanical, ergonomic, and aesthetic needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Proposing design solutions to meet customer requirements Producing detailed 2D drawings to BS8888 or international standards from models and customer-supplied drawings, using SolidWorks Assembling and testing prototypes and change models to achieve specifications Designing customer tooling to aid product assembly Sourcing components and materials specific to the agreed designs Maintaining existing 3D models and 2D drawings, including requested changes Adhering to all health and safety rules and practices Occasionally performing drawing changes or production drawings under the DRC system
Job Requirements:
Experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment Proficiency in using 3D drafting packages, particularly SolidWorks Understanding of producing detailed 2D drawings to international standards Education to BTEC level 3/HND in an engineering discipline or significant work experience using CAD Experience working to ISO13485 standards is advantageous Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
Measurement of Success:
Contribution to project deliverables and on-time delivery of activities Accuracy and completeness of drawings
