Osbit Northumberland, England, United Kingdom Mechanical Engineer

We’re Osbit. We design and build cutting-edge engineering systems to make offshore wind happen at scale. We supply engineering equipment across many technology areas, to enable key offshore operations such as wind turbine foundation installation, burial and installation of subsea cables, and the lifting & handling of wind turbine components. We’re here to redefine what’s possible offshore, to drive the clean energy sector, and our planet, forward. We combine decades of collective experience in developing offshore equipment with fresh and innovative approaches, and we are passionate about enabling a more sustainable world for us all. Role Description: This role is the sturdy foundation underpinning Osbit’s success. An Osbit Mechanical Engineer is technically capable, and driven, in equal measure. You're an energetic all-rounder, owning your project from start to finish, and collaborating closely with your colleagues to overcome any obstacles thrown your way. The offshore wind industry is growing fast, and our projects are too. There’s lots to work on, with opportunities to take ownership and make a genuine difference to our business outcomes. You must be willing to get stuck in, combining your technical nous with strong communication, and lateral thinking, to ensure that we deliver On Spec, to Budget and In Time - OSBIT, every time. Your Responsibilities: Helping design innovative systems from first principles, from concept through to detailed design, while maintaining technical excellence. Supporting on schedule delivery by effective management of your project deliverables. Managing supplier progress, holding regular meetings and in-person support. Preparing technical documentation & design calculations for peer review, and checking third party documentation. Preparing for and carrying out testing, commissioning and mobilisation activities. Liaising with other business functions, including finance and HSSEQ, for support and guidance. Supporting your teammates by sharing your knowledge and insights in working groups and presentations, where applicable. About You: Open minded with a keen to learn attitude. Self-motivated and persistent in getting from A to B. Adaptable when unexpected challenges crop up. Your Experience: We welcome a range of qualification levels, from graduates onwards. In this role, as a basis you'll need: A degree-level qualification, or equivalent, in a technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture. The ability to work with Autodesk Inventor software. Proficiency in hand calculations, through to Staad and FEA. Further Information: Successful applicants be based at our Riding Mill headquarters, in North East England, working on site as required. Working abroad may be required at times to visit customers, suppliers, and support assembly programmes. We can offer hybrid working in this role. What we offer: It's really important to us that Osbit is a fun and supportive place to be. This is why we offer a range of benefits. In the UK, these include: Lunch and refreshments provided daily at main sites. Access to a Myers Briggs practitioner & counsellor, and tailored coaching. Bike to Work and Electric Vehicle rental schemes. Annual summer party celebration and Christmas walk, lunch, and festivities. Further benefits package currently under construction. About Venterra: Venterra is a dedicated wind energy services group at the forefront of driving the clean energy transition. Together, we engineer, build and support the operations of major wind developments around the world by providing specialist, technical and comprehensive services at every stage of the project lifecycle. Our vision is to become the global services champion and strategic partner supporting the wind industry’s rapid expansion. Seniority level
