Our Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for repairing production and auxiliary machines resulting from breakdowns and identifying improvements to achieve increased efficiency and reduce waste (downtime and can loss). Support Shift Managers to resolve breakdown occurrences and complete tasks as set by the Engineering leadership/specialist team, inclusive of the completion of the PPM program. Typical Tasks include: Observe and adhere to company health and safety regulations at all times. Adhere to ISO/BRC requirements. Carry out any mechanical tasks required by the engineering team and/or Shift Manager. Support Electrical tasks where possible. Complete tasks as set by the engineering lead and Maintenance Manager. Address any problems with production machines likely to affect production or defects that may make the machine unsafe to work. Remake spares if not available during breakdown in compliance with regulatory requirements and appropriate verification of competence. Support the development of autonomous maintenance by upskilling operators' knowledge and know-how. Update Operation standards for continuity and standardization. Efficiently carry out the PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) to company standards. Identify and implement continuous improvement of processes and machines. Own project themes as determined by the engineering manager/leadership group (SMART). Improve machine setup/modifications to increase efficiency. Hand over to the oncoming maintenance engineer and inform him/her of the state of the lines and any in-progress repairs. Minimize waste by adopting lean principles and maintaining a clean and tidy work ethic. Maintain accurate records in line with Ball requirements. Perform duties in such a way as to observe and maintain established housekeeping standards. Return tools, parts, and other equipment to appropriate storage locations. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a tidy and functional state at all times, ensuring all are fit for purpose. Perform all tasks relating to operating and maintaining production machines. Continually seek to optimize production output and quality by responding to machine and process electrical and mechanical problems and taking appropriate action. This role is on a 4-week shift rotation which includes Days (6am - 6pm) and Nights (6pm - 6am) on the following days: Week 1 / 3:
