We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our client in Malvern, PA. This role includes working with colleagues, vendors, and customers to overcome technical challenges. Developing practical and innovative mechanical and electromechanical products using SolidWorks 3D CAD for the engineering of equipment, systems, and components used in the fire sprinkler industry. Responsibilities: Generate comprehensive specifications for new products and product improvements. Produce CAD models, manufacturing assembly drawings, and BOMs ensuring they are to proper standards and within specification. Perform necessary calculations to verify the validity of the design. Establish costs for fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of new products. Create, assemble, and test working prototypes. Create clear, concise, and comprehensive instructions for assembling and testing by manufacturing staff. Create clear, concise, and comprehensive installations for customers. Collaborate with manufacturing and marketing personnel on the launch of new products. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues. Inspect incoming inventory and evaluate in-house production assemblies. Define packages/boxing of new products and improve packaging of existing products. Support customers by troubleshooting field issues and questions. Experience: Mechanical Engineering degree, preferably BSME. 5-10 years of experience in a design engineering role. Sprinkler industry experience desirable, but not necessary. Experience with electromechanical product design including PLC ladder logic and control panel fabrication. A creative approach for generating new ideas and solving design issues. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry, and their applications in engineering. Ability to produce work consistently to a high standard and within deadlines. Ability to manage a diverse workload in a small company environment. Familiarity with using basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread and plug gauges. Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software. CSWP. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
