Who Are We? Thaleron is a driven team with significant financial backing developing an entirely new mechanical energy storage technology. We have proven it in the lab, and are now building our first scale prototypes. Our aim is not to just make a carbon-free grid cost-competitive with fossil fuels, but drastically cheaper. If we succeed, we will unlock the fourth industrial revolution. Your Team We believe in small superstar teams, with high autonomy and responsibility. As a Mechanical Engineer at Thaleron, you’ll be part of a team of world experts, developing new concepts, rapidly building and testing to destruction. Our team is onsite in Maidenhead at least three days per week, creating an environment conducive to rapid innovation and seamless teamwork. Your Role We're tackling a truly novel challenge: harnessing the power of physics to design and create a fundamentally better, more affordable way to store energy. We’re seeking Mechanical Engineers with a passion for theoretical problem-solving and for diving into complex mathematical equations. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our cutting-edge experiments, modeling intricate rotating systems, and delivering innovative solutions that redefine what's possible. What you need to succeed: Cultural: Very strong team player. Working well as part of our team is, if anything, more important than individual brilliance. A bias for action and getting hands-on work done. Technical: A strong background in

Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Mechanical Engineering . Exceptional analytical skills to solve complex problems from first principles—calculating stresses, aerodynamic drag, inertia, and more. High spatial reasoning for accurate 3D conceptualization before CAD modeling. Candidate Journey: Talent Screen - video call (30-45 minutes) - an introductory call with our Head of Talent. Technical Interview - video call (60 minutes) - initial, technically focused interview with our Lead Engineer. Onsite meeting (90 - 120 minutes) - in-person meeting with the team at our HQ in Maidenhead. You'll participate in a collaborative task and spend valuable time with the whole team. This process is designed to give you every chance to get the measure of us, and us of you. The various stages give you a fair opportunity to show your unique strengths and qualities, and enables each of us to establish if we’re a good fit for the other. Please share with us any individual needs or reasonable adjustments we may need to make in advance of commencing the interview process with us.
