The role: As a Mechanical Engineering Discipline Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will serve as the focal point for Mechanical within Cavendish Nuclear – accountable for the development of capability, processes and tools. Day-to-day, you’ll represent the Cavendish Nuclear (CNL) Mechanical engineering discipline at CNL, Nuclear Sector and Babcock Group level engineering forums. Establish a CNL mechanical engineering discipline forum covering the multiple CNL sites and business streams to identify key personnel and implement improvement opportunities pertaining to the mechanical discipline. Ensure the right capability, processes and tools are available for use by those in the mechanical discipline across the CNL business streams. Maintain the “health” of the mechanical discipline to meet current and future business needs. Accountable for interactions with external bodies and professional institutes relating to mechanical engineering and ownership of technical content of training schemes to achieve and maintain professional accreditation with the IMechE. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days working from a Cavendish Nuclear hub and the remaining from home. This role can be based out of the following Cavendish Nuclear hubs: Warrington, Stoke Gifford or Leicester, with expected UK wide travel. Essential experience: Previous experience in a leadership role within a mechanical discipline. Confident communicator and presenter, capable of delivering information to all levels both internally and externally. Previous experience of decision-making around programmes of work. Evidence of having progressed within the mechanical discipline. Good understanding of the product delivery lifecycle. Qualifications: Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent is desirable, but lesser qualification with substantial relevant experience will be considered. Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
