Mechanical Fitter
to work in
Birkenhead .
For the successful Mechanical Fitter, our client is offering:
Hourly rate of £20.00 per hour (PAYE)
Overtime paid at x1.5 (£30.00) & x2 (£40.00)
Core working hours Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 2:30pm finish on Friday
Overtime available after core hours & weekends
Long-term temporary position
Holiday pay
Pension - Auto enrolment after 3 months
Opportunities for candidates to become permanent depending on performance
The role -
Mechanical Fitter :
Fit and assemble mechanical components and systems onboard ships according to engineering specifications and drawings
Carry out maintenance and repairs on various vessels, inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and structural issues
Assist in the overhaul, repair, renew or modification of vessel’s main engines, generators, compressors
Assemble mechanical systems and structures like walkways and staircases
Bolting, fitting, drilling, tapping, torquing items like handrails and posts
Using hand & power tools
Ensuring high-quality standards are met
Following health and safety protocols
What our client is looking for in a Mechanical Fitter:
City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- BENEFICIAL
Proven expertise in industrial mechanical fitting work
- ESSENTIAL
Proven experience in the Marine / Nuclear / Steel fabrication / Off-shore / Petro-chemical or Construction industries
- ESSENTIAL
Significant experience in marine/ship repair
- BENEFICIAL
CCNSG Safety passport or equivalent
- BENEFICIAL
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Full BPSS checks or willingness to undergo the clearance process
Key skills or similar job titles:
