Our busiest client in 2024, a multi-dimensional MEP-led Principal Contractor, has recently secured a new data centre project in Gloucester and is looking to build a team in the region from January 2025. They work across a range of project sectors including data centres, education, commercial, healthcare, and science & technology in and around London, SE, and surrounding home counties, with a focus on critical infrastructure. Their services include design, construction, fit-out, and maintenance, effectively offering an end-to-end solution.

The project involves the fit-out of a fallow space in a live datacentre for the telecoms sector. As it's a live environment, the work must be completed without interruptions. The scope of works includes creating a new white space, replacing existing generators with new ones, installing new Electrical LV (Switchboards and distribution) & HV infrastructure, along with the diversion of existing supply and new mechanical equipment (chillers).

The internal fit-out consists of a steel frame, modifications to the existing building, installation of louvres, raised access floor, and a new mezzanine floor installation. M&E covers mechanical cooling, AC, fire protection, BMS, containment, PDUs, cabling, and communications.

The programme runs through to May 2026 with a project value of circa £12m.

Mechanical Site Manager duties:

Report on all Health and Safety issues and demonstrate H&S leadership and on-site monitoring of all team members and contractors. Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including mechanical and external contractors. Ensure subcontractors work to the programme. Conduct QA inspections of installations and problem solving. Carry out financial forecasting to manage budget, costs, profit, and risk. Compile project RAMS and ensure they are updated as the project progresses. Manage supply chain, plant, materials, and logistics.

We are ideally looking for candidates with data centre experience, but we are also open to applicants with experience in critical infrastructure in other live environments (hospitals, pharma, critical plant). Qualifications include HND/HNC or Degree, SSSTS, SMSTS, Black CSCS, First Aid, and a Driving Licence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
