Position Description
A vacancy exists for the position of Mechanical Technician at Carrington Power Station. Carrington Power Station comprises 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGTs) and is located near Manchester.
The candidate will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage, develop, and motivate team members. They will have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Operating as part of the mechanical maintenance team across a wide range of duties, making optimum use of the work management system.
Fault finding and maintaining assets in accordance with the technician’s specialist technical discipline.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS.
Supervising and directing contractors.
Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions.
Complying with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations.
Carrying out authorised roles under the safety rules.
Liaising with other departments as required or directed.
Carrying out project work and activities as directed.
Being part of an on-call system reacting to maintenance and operational matters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance.
Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors.
Ability to organise and prioritise work.
An understanding of mechanical, heavy rotational, pressure systems, and power generation.
Experience in project management and/or good planning skills.
Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship.
A relevant engineering qualification at least at craft level.
Location
The successful person will be based in Carrington Power Station, near Manchester.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Team Leader, Carrington Power Station.
