To carry out mechanical maintenance tasks in a safe manner to appropriate standards and assist the Mechanical Supervisor in executing daily tasks, providing absence cover when required. Role Specific Responsibilities: Technical: Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and without harm to others or the environment, in line with company policies. Execute mechanical maintenance tasks as required, including both planned and emergent work. Tasks will include but are not limited to installation of pipework and fittings, installation of screwed and bolted joints, installation and alignment of rotating machinery (high value mechanical seals, pumps, agitators, etc.), condition-based monitoring, pump and valve overhauls/repairs. Identify any parts required, collating the relevant details and contacting the supplier for a quotation when appropriate. Assist in the development of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Routines (PMR) and write appropriate routines. Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of failures to improve the reliability of equipment. Recommend and monitor workshop spares holding, ensuring any parts used are replenished. Record all work in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) currently MP2. Assist in the training of others on site to increase the skills and knowledge of the workforce. Provide cover for the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor during absences and at other times as required. Undertake other duties as may be required. Business Improvement: Active participation in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Participation in problem solving. Take responsibility for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement. Assist in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members. Compliance: Comply with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements. Report all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly. Act in a safe and responsible manner at all times. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good knowledge of maintenance processes. Good IT skills – able to adapt to new IT systems. Detail-oriented and well-organized, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Embodies the core values of Aurorium: credible, outcome-oriented, driven, and empowered accountability. Education & Qualifications: Maths, English, IT Literate. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience: Served a recognized apprenticeship scheme or equivalent training. Experience and knowledge of rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, etc.). Experience and knowledge of static equipment (flanges, pipework, valves, PVVs, RVs, flame arresters, etc.). Knowledge of predictive techniques. Experience in a similar environment, ideally a Top Tier COMAH site. Basic knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g., LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, HASAWA, COSHH, and DSEAR.
