About the Role: We are recruiting for a Mechanical Workshop Manager to oversee the operations of a busy and growing workshop for one of our clients. Based at their Head Office in Chatham, Kent, this is a hands-on management role ensuring the smooth and efficient running of workshop activities while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety.

Working closely with their Servicing and Engineering teams, you will bring solid experience in mechanical workshop operations, ideally related to lifting and/or garage equipment. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities: Overseeing and managing workshop operations, including schedules, priorities, and deadlines. Leading and motivating a team of workshop engineers and technicians. Liaising with customers to ensure expectations and service standards are met. Monitoring job progress and ensuring the quality of work meets safety and industry standards. Managing workshop resources, including tools, equipment, and inventory. Handling invoicing and ensuring accurate job records. Driving operational efficiency and identifying areas for improvement. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

About You: You'll be proactive, hard-working, and passionate about delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced and busy workshop environment. You'll have strong leadership skills and be able to maintain excellent relationships with both colleagues and customers.

Personal Traits & Aptitudes: Strong leadership and management skills, with experience overseeing workshop teams. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with attention to detail. Confident communicator at all levels, both written and verbal. Adaptability to meet urgent customer requests and strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Qualifications & Skills: Experience in the lifting and/or garage equipment sector is highly beneficial. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel. Proven ability to manage engineer teams, workshop schedules, and multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong customer service skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients. Full UK driving license is beneficial.
