This role will support the way we communicate as a diocese by gathering, creating and sharing stories in engaging and creative ways, whilst also handling media enquiries on behalf of the Diocese.

Why Join Us?

What You’ll Do:

Create engaging, inspiring content for digital, social, and traditional media.

Support clergy, parishes, and staff in their communications efforts, including video and social media guidance.

Keep our website fresh, relevant, and user-friendly while analysing its performance to improve engagement.

Help implement a social media strategy that grows and connects our audiences.

Build strong relationships across the Diocese, engaging with clergy, parishioners, local leaders, and media contacts.

What We’re Looking For:

A professional or educational background in media, communications, or a related field.

Exceptional writing and editing skills for crafting press releases, news stories, and social content.

Experience in managing social media platforms and analysing performance metrics.

Creative flair, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to spotting trends and opportunities.

A good understanding of current affairs and the ability to connect with diverse communities.

Sympathy with our values and the ability to relate to church communities and stakeholders.

Perks of the Role:

Central Canterbury location with free parking.

Be part of an organisation deeply committed to transformation and positive impact.

Birthday leave, volunteering leave, and a wellbeing day per annum.

Hybrid work pattern.

Generous employer pension contribution.

Opportunities to collaborate with passionate, mission-driven colleagues.

Key Details:

After training, you’ll be on call one weekend a month and may occasionally work evenings or weekends (with notice).

Based mainly in the Canterbury office, with opportunities to travel across the county and work from home.
