An opportunity has arisen at Barts Health NHS Trust for a 12-month secondment/fixed-term contract within the Medical and Dental Education Team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic member of staff to join our team working mainly at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in West Smithfield and jointly with the team at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, London. The role involves working closely with resident doctors in training, educational and clinical supervisors, education leads and external organisations and regulators such as NHS England, to ensure education and training is of a high quality and meets GMC (General Medical Council) standards. The post holder will work with the wider team to ensure our doctors are able to access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to gain the competencies necessary to complete their training programme. The successful candidate will be conscientious, proactive and keen to learn. They will be expected to have shown some degree of experience or knowledge of medical education which can be demonstrated in their application and interview. The job holder will support the Director of Medical Education in delivering various Postgraduate and Undergraduate improvement projects and work streams. This will include: Attendance at internal and external meetings, supporting both Undergraduate medical students, Postgraduate resident doctors, Physician Associate students and Locally Employed Doctors and SAS doctors. Supporting the site Director of Medical Education, Deputy Directors of Medical Education, Foundation Programme Director and Undergraduate Associate Dean. Supporting the Simulation and Clinical Skills Unit on site as required. Supporting site-based educational activities, such as local Induction, Local Faculty Groups, OSCEs etc. Administering the Relocation application process for Royal London and St Bartholomew’s hospitals. The job holder will be expected to work with colleagues on other site-based Education teams as part of a network of shared learning centres across the Trust, with common systems and processes able to support a full range of education and development activities across all professional groups. Qualifications

Qualified to A Level or equivalent standard of education. Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD). ILM 3 or above or equivalent. Leadership/Management Qualification. Experience

Significant experience of working within a healthcare education setting, such as an Acute Trust or a regulatory body such as NHSE, GMC. Experience of supervising others. Experience of working within a customer service facing role. Experience of monitoring income and expenditure. Experience of working alongside senior management and consultants. Experience of project management. Skills

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including the ability to lead team meetings and present to large groups. Working knowledge and proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). Organise own workload and work with minimum supervision. Ability to work under pressure and use initiative to prioritise tasks. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills to review and produce statistical information. Advanced IT & Database knowledge. Knowledge

Knowledge of medical training pathways, education training systems and quality standards. Other

Ability to work proactively. Ability to negotiate and influence staff at all levels. Ability to deal with sensitive situations. Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
