The post holder will work between Denmark Hill Site and the PRUH Site during this post. This post is designed to provide a wide range of educational experience for SpRs/StRs who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career. This is a twelve month 'out of programme' (OOPE) post aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience to develop expertise in educational theory and practice, and undertake supervised educational research. Main duties of the job

Clinical responsibilities will be dependent on the post holder's clinical experience and will be tailored to that individual. Learning outcomes for this post include: Gain an understanding of simulation as an educational modality. Be able to develop and run a simulation training episode at course director level. Be provided with an opportunity to gain an educational qualification to the level of certificate or above. Job Responsibilities

When working within the centre, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the running of the centre on a day-to-day level working closely with the established PGMDE team. They will be expected to develop the capability to work without supervision in simulation but will be fully supported as they develop this skill. They will be expected to develop an understanding of all modes of simulation including human factors. Person Specification

Clinical Ability

Satisfactory progression through training as demonstrated by satisfactory ARCP outcomes. Prizes or distinctions, presentation of work at a national or international meeting, publications in peer-reviewed journals, additional degree or MSc in relevant subject area. Educational Capability

Previous experience in medical education. Understands and can apply a range of educational concepts, able to demonstrate personal and educational reasons for applying for this Fellowship programme and shows a commitment to continuing professional development. Demonstrates knowledge of career pathways in medical education, good general knowledge/broad interest in academic medicine, research experience, and can demonstrate how the post will benefit patients in London in future. Personal Attributes

Good communication skills, able to work well in a team, sense of commitment and reliability, approachable and friendly, and tolerant and empathetic. Evidence of educational leadership potential, good organisational and problem-solving skills. An ST3 + in a recognised specialty training programme. By the time of taking up the post, the post holder will have completed ST1. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Salary: £61,825 to £70,425 per annum including London Zone £2,162 per annum.
