This is an important role, supporting the Pathology Department, and is suitable for individuals who like a variety of duties. Experience of computer input work is essential and applicants should be able to demonstrate current skills.
The candidate should be literate and numerate; GCSE Grade C or above in mathematics and English would be an advantage as would previous laboratory or health care experience and familiarity with medical terminology.
Hours: Core Hours are 09:00 - 17:30, however, the successful applicant will be expected to take part in the Out of Hours Roster, including early shifts, late shifts, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary Blood Sciences laboratory after appropriate training and completion of the relevant in-house competencies.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, your main role is to assist Biomedical Scientists with their lab work. You will receipt and process a variety of biological samples. You will also be trained to work in phlebotomy, taking blood from patients.
