Here at Dr Khan & Partners we are currently looking for a part/full-time medical receptionist to join our friendly team. We are a very busy combined practice with a patient population of just short of 9000 patients. The opportunity covers both our surgeries, which are located within the Westbourne Green Health Centre. We will require holiday and sickness cover and, with the growth of City PCNs, more opportunities may follow. As part of our friendly team you will be responsible for providing a pleasant and efficient service to our patients. The successful candidate will be a friendly, organised person with an excellent telephone manner, and a can do attitude. Main duties of the job

Duties and responsibilities include: Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system Processing face to face and telephone requests for appointments, visits and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail Taking messages and passing on information Filing and retrieving paperwork Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including filing, photocopying and scanning Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter The post-holder should recognize the importance of effective communication within the team. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be computer literate and have the ability to work under pressure. Must also have good administrative skills and the ability to multitask. Duties include making appointments, dealing with patient enquiries both in person and on the telephone and general administrative tasks. Flexibility with hours is expected to cover holidays and sickness. Must be reliable, hardworking and able to work within the NHS confidentiality guidelines. Full training will be given but previous experience would be advantageous. About us

The purpose of the role is to: Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies Updating patient information accurately on SystmOne Person Specification

Qualifications

GCSE English and Maths Qualified to NVQ level 3 Business Admin NVQ 3 RSA II/III Word Processing GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care Experience of answering telephone calls in a high call volume environment Experience of setting up general office administrative systems / working in an administrative office environment Knowledge and skills

Clinical software skills: SystmOne Numeracy Verbal communication skills ability to deal with people in person and on the telephone Verbal reasoning skills Report / Letter writing skills Microsoft Excel Experience

A period working directly with members of the public in a busy NHS environment and/or working as part of a patient care navigation team. Ideally Systm1 trained. Any previous experience of working in a primary care setting. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
