Job Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Vascular department for a Band 3 Medical Secretary. This post is for 30 hours a week over 5 days. Main Duties of the Job: The post-holder will provide an efficient, confidential and professional secretarial service to the specialty teams, through managing correspondence, handling patient queries, and liaising with other healthcare professionals in order to support the delivery of Trust activity. This will include administration and secretarial support to enable the provision of patient care and specialty services. Good communication with patients, relatives, general practitioners, and other hospital staff is essential to ensure a proficient, high-quality service for patients and clinicians. About Us: The Vascular Network provides specialist cover for Gloucester Royal as the hub with Swindon Hospital as a spoke. Both sites are extremely busy and require an energetic but exceptionally organized person to join our specialist team. Experience: Essential: Previous experience of dealing with members of the public. Experience of using own initiative, prioritizing workload, and utilizing organizational skills. Desirable: Previous experience working in a busy office. Previous medical secretary/hospital/NHS service experience. Experience of data entry, maintaining databases, and data validation of electronic records. Working experience of TRAK/EPR/PACS/Infoflex. Knowledge: Essential: Good command and understanding of English, punctuation, and grammar. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent and accurate attention to detail. Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook/Diary management. Desirable: Knowledge of NHS systems. Qualifications: Essential: GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above. Desirable: Typewriting/word processing RSA Level 3 or equivalent practical experience. NVQ in Administration Level 3, computer literate in Microsoft Office packages.
