Medical Secretary required for a busy GP Practice in Rainham. The post holder will provide an efficient, specialised secretarial support service to the clinical team and the Practice Manager. This will include the processing of patient referral letters via the Electronic Referral System (ERS) and other methods, dealing directly with enquiries in person and on the telephone from patients and hospital personnel and general administrative and secretarial duties. The candidate would need to be available to start around the end of January 2025. This is subject to change. Main duties of the job

Provide a comprehensive secretarial support service to the doctors and nurses, supporting them by providing an administrative service. Type clinical letters, referral forms and other correspondence promptly and forward appropriately to correct service provider. Process referrals via the Electronic Referral System (ERS) in a timely manner. Deal with queries from patients regarding their referrals. Prepare requests for medical reports, insurance claim forms and copies of notes as necessary. Maintain a database for recording of all private work carried out, fees requested and monies received. Deal with daily scanning and filing of incoming correspondence. Maintain and amend letter templates/referral forms within the clinical system. Prioritise all work as it comes to the Secretary from various workflow processes such as task messages, Docman workflow, email, telephone and paper correspondence. About us

Experience

Experience working in a medical environment. Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or similar role. Fast yet accurate medical typing speed. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to deal with people in person and on the telephone. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work with minimal supervision and use own initiative. Knowledge of clinical systems: EMIS, DXS and Docman. Knowledge of the E-referral system. Good working knowledge of General Practice. Confident in communicating with staff at all levels. Interested in learning new skills and taking on new challenges.
