About the Role An opportunity has arisen for a part-time, permanent medical secretary to join Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery in Halstead for 30 hours per week. The days can be flexible for the right candidate, but working hours have to be between 8.30am and 5.00pm. You will work within what can be a busy, often demanding, but highly rewarding environment. The role of a medical secretary is to be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the clinical and administration team. Duties can include, but are not limited to: Processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner. Copy typing. Processing medical referral letters. Liaising with departments and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies, including the use of the electronic referral system. The successful candidate will be expected to provide cover for annual leave and sickness within the team. About the Candidate The medical secretary is expected to be a team player, act with integrity always and lead by example with reference to promoting excellence in customer service, communication with patients, equality and diversity, and patient confidentiality. We would welcome applications from those with the following skills and experience: Secretarial qualifications or secretarial background is an advantage. Copy typing speed of a minimum 60wpm. Excellent written English and grammar with the ability to adapt letters for clinicians. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes (in particular Microsoft Word and Outlook).
