An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly Frimley Park Hospital at Night (H@N) Team. The successful applicant should have experience within an area of general nursing (such as surgical, acute/gen med or ED), excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards. Training in ultrasound-guided venepuncture and cannulation will be offered and well supported to the successful candidate. Please note this job is night shifts only. Please note willingness to work cross-site if necessary, is essential (at Wexham Park Hospital). Main Duties of the Job

The MTA will work within the H@N team serving multi-speciality wards within Frimley Health in delivery of high quality and safe patient care at night. To work as part of the H@N team, contributing to the clinical care of patients across the hospital by providing a high-quality venepuncture and cannulation service overnight. To perform under supervision of the Night Nurse Practitioner/H@N team initially, but after achieving competence should be confident in working alone as required. Completing venepuncture/cannulation in accordance with training and procedures. To undertake further extended roles, such as ECG collection and catheterisation. To participate in the overnight emergency response team. To follow the general policies and protocols, assisting in maintaining the highest professional standards. About Us

Job Responsibilities

To participate in all relevant departmental training under qualified supervision to attain proficiency in all required skills. To demonstrate effective communication skills (written, verbal & electronic) between patients and members of the multi-disciplinary team. To communicate effectively with patients and their relatives. To provide professional competent basic nursing care to patients without direct supervision including hygiene needs while maintaining patient dignity. To be competent in the use of point of care equipment, ensuring the timely retrieval of results are accurately communicated back to the requesting clinician. Comply with Trust policies & guidelines through the process of clinical governance and audit, including incident reporting. Report all incidents and adverse events to senior staff. Demonstrate on-going competency against training plans and participate positively in Continuous Professional Development. Person Specification

Training

Willingness to undertake training. Venepuncture competency. Cannulation competency. Education

Evidence of general education e.g. GCSE's or equivalent. Care certificate. Further health education. Experience

Previous experience working in an acute hospital. Experience in an acute setting, ie MADU, ED, ITU. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
