Teaching is an integral part of the Medicine Summer School programme at Oxford Royale. We are looking for a teacher passionate about inspiring students to explore key areas of medicine, including human anatomy, medical ethics, and clinical practice. The ideal teacher will guide students through real-world medical challenges, encouraging them to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to practical medical scenarios. Lessons should promote active participation, problem-solving, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities :

Prepare and adapt lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, ensuring content is aligned with the students' academic levels and interests. Deliver engaging lessons that introduce students to the fundamentals of medicine, clinical techniques, and current medical advancements. Use subject expertise to ensure student progress, offering tailored feedback and adapting tasks to meet diverse learning needs. Lead practical workshops, simulations, and discussions that apply medical theory to clinical practice. Mark assignments, provide detailed feedback, and complete student reports reflecting individual progress. Manage administrative tasks such as maintaining registers and attending staff meetings. Work closely with fellow teaching staff to foster a positive and engaging learning environment.

Person Specification :

Extensive knowledge and experience in medicine or a related field, with an understanding of current medical trends and advancements. Passion for inspiring students and encouraging their curiosity about the medical field. Ability to communicate complex medical concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles. Creative and confident teaching approach, encouraging practical engagement and problem-solving. Fluency in English and strong organizational skills.

Position Details :

Programmes are two weeks in length, with options for 2, 4, or 6-week contracts available between July and mid-August 2025. Teaching takes place Monday to Friday, with lessons scheduled from 09:00 to 16:00, although shorter hours may be available in some locations. Compulsory online and in-person training will be required before starting the role. While key teaching materials are provided, teachers are expected to adapt lesson plans to suit student interests and contribute their own expertise to the course.

Essential Qualifications :

Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Medicine, Medical Sciences, or a closely related field.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience :

Experience teaching medicine or related subjects to students aged 16-18. PGCE or Master’s degree in Medicine or a related field. Clinical experience or research in the medical field.
