POSITION SUMMARY: The Member Service Associate is responsible for providing the members and public with accurate information on YMCA programs and policies. The Member Services Associate administers the procedures and policies of the Front Desk and member services area. The Member Services Associate will assist with various activities such as special events, and other activities that occur on various occasions. Responsibilities:

Greet all members and public with a smile. Responsible for online receipting of memberships, program registration, etc. Answer phone calls promptly with courtesy and be able to answer information about membership and programs to members and program participants and/or direct calls appropriately. Maintain and account for daily cash drawer. Forward accurate information to members and potential members by means of phone, mail, email, fax, etc. Distribute balls, towels, racquets and other items on loan from YMCA using the proper method if appropriate for your Branch. Basic housekeeping in the Front Office and other areas of the YMCA as needed. Other duties as needed pertaining to member services or related areas. Be enthusiastic while giving tours of the facility paying particular attention to the areas the potential member may be interested in and answer all questions they may have. Control members entering the building through the access control system. If the shift requires opening and closing the YMCA follow procedures which may include: unlocking and locking all appropriate doors, counting the cash drawer; ensuring that saunas are on, off and checking the facility for members in the building. Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Strong public relations and interpersonal skills. General clerical and computer skills. Ability to communicate with people of all levels. Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Critical thinking & decision making. Emotional maturity. Physical Requirements: carrying, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25lbs) and walking.
