Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing, or therapeutic recreation or at least 5 years direct resident experience; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
At least three to five (3-5) years of healthcare experience.
At least two (2) years of geriatric care experience.
Certification/Licensure: Expertise in Alzheimer’s and related dementias to meet State license requirements.
Job Description and Duties To develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services for residents with cognitive impairment; to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident’s highest level of physical, social, and psychological well-being. Reports directly to the Administrator.
Coordinates the development of the unit objectives, policies, and procedures.
Participates in the hiring, scheduling, and supervising of the primary care aides.
Provides in-service and all continuing education for employees, family members, and volunteers regarding the resident’s disease process, behaviors, techniques, and approaches.
Pursues educational development in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
Coordinates, with team members, the development of the 24-hour plan for the residents and quarterly updates in the progress notes. Assures delivery of service for each resident according to his or her 24-hour plan.
