Mental Health Housing Support Worker

to join us! As our Mental Health Housing Support Worker you will work collaboratively with tenants to provide a range of practical and emotional support and interventions in order to manage their tenancy. This support aims to reduce the risk of tenancy failure, reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour, and improve a tenant’s ability to maintain their tenancy long term. You’ll also use creative and empowering interventions to support people you are working with around their multiple needs which are impacting on their ability to maintain a tenancy. Key duties and responsibilities of our Mental Health Housing Support Worker:

Support customers presenting with low level mental health issues to address multiple needs which are impacting on their ability to maintain and sustain a tenancy. Undertake assessments with tenants and offer a package of support, by developing support plans with tenants, carrying out effective reviews of these plans, and giving clear goals and directions. Provide emotional support through face-to-face visits and offer a range of various interventions to the tenant to address their needs, ensuring they are meaningful, respectful and promote self-determination and confidence. Provide practical support to ensure income maximisation, i.e., benefit applications, providing supporting information for claims, working with creditors to address debt issues etc. Provide a point of contact for the Neighbourhood teams and other relevant officers who have identified tenants they feel may have unmet low level mental health needs. Work closely with mental health provision in Barnsley in order to link individuals with more complex mental health issues to specialist services. Ensure records and other information systems are completed accurately and within agreed timescales. Take all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of customers and self, producing understanding and following risk assessments as instructed. What we’re looking for in our Mental Health Housing Support Worker:

NVQ Level 3 in Housing, Social Work, Health or equivalent; or relevant experience in a similar role. Commitment to enabling and empowering service users to become fully engaged with the service. Be self-motivated, enterprising and able to use own initiative working under own supervision and organising own workload. Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work in a highly pressurised environment with sometimes conflicting demands. The ability to be creative, innovative and have excellent problem-solving skills taking ownership of the problems and actively seeking appropriate solutions.
