We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Warren Hill, a

category C Prison located in Ipswich.

In this role you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

Hours

The site currently offers a 24-hour service with shift patterns:

Monday to Friday - 8am to 4pm

Saturday and Sunday - Flexible

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to

£40,211

per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

Be responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.

Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients.

Provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.

Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.

Qualifications & experience required

Current NMC registration

Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions

Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work, and awareness of substance misuse

A non-judgmental and compassionate approach

Job responsibilities As a Mental Health Nurse, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options. You will undertake medication rounds and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed. You will assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge, as well as open, maintain, close, and take part in reviews of individuals being managed under the Prison Suicide and Self Harm risk management system known as Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT).

You will contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to:

Provide

outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them. You will work with individuals providing advice, support, and information and manage a caseload of patients.

Deliver

non-judgemental care that makes a real difference. You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required.
