Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic nurse or AHP to join our new and innovative Mental Health Acute Liaison Team based within Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The post holder will be required to provide guidance and support to professionals across the trust, as well as provide direct support to young people and their parents/carers admitted to Alder Hey for physical health care needs, who also have a mental health presentation. The successfully candidate will play a crucial role in the further development of service provision and its expansion over the next 12-18 months. Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for supporting the coordination of care for children and young people referred to the Mental Health Acute Liaison Team who require assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation as required. The Mental Health Practitioner will supervise and develop junior staff as well as working with the Team Leader to support ongoing service and quality developments. Person specification

Education & Training

Registered Nurse or Allied/other health professional registered with NMC or HCPC Educated to first Degree level Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development Evidence of studying at Masters level Teaching qualification Experience

Extensive experience of caring for patients with Mental Health conditions. Experience in behaviour management. Experience of managing a caseload and working autonomously Demonstrable staff supervisory experience Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Extensive experience of supporting children and their families in an acute setting. Knowledge

Demonstrate a commitment to optimum standard of patient care. Knowledge of restrictive practice Ability to work autonomously across MDT settings Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and its application Skills

Ability to respond to unpredictable, aggressive interactions with clients. Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.
