Direct Medics are working in partnership with NHS Cheshire Wirral Trust to recruit a Children and Young People Mental Health Practitioner, to play a vital role in supporting the mental health of the next generation. Based in Chester, full time, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. As a key member of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service (CYPMHS), you will: Promote positive mental well-being and mental health for children and young people. Assess, deliver, and evaluate the mental health needs of children and young people accepted into the service. Provide specialist mental health assessments for young people with complex needs, including those admitted to paediatric wards following self-injury. Collaborate with children, parents, carers, and team members to create tailored treatment plans, incorporating a range of therapeutic approaches. Contribute to preventative service delivery by offering consultations, expert advice to professionals, and participating in training programmes. Work both autonomously and as part of the multi-disciplinary team, making decisions about accepting, prioritising, and assessing referrals to the service. Support the development of the CYPMHS team to meet its growing service needs. Requirements: Core professional qualification in Social Work, Nursing, or Allied Health Profession. Professional registration with a recognised national body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England). Post-qualification continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the core profession. Demonstrable knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, Family Therapy). Significant post-qualification experience in CYPMHS or a related child mental health field.
