Overview
The Support Worker plays a vital role in providing assistance and care to individuals with various needs, including those with autism and special educational requirements. This position is centred around fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for clients through compassionate support and tailored interventions. Duties
Provide direct support to individuals in daily living activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Assist with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
Implement applied behaviour analysis techniques to promote positive behaviours and learning.
Work closely with children and adults, adapting approaches based on individual needs and preferences.
Collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop personalised care plans.
Maintain accurate records of client progress and any incidents that occur during support sessions.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that encourage social interaction and skill development.
Foster a supportive environment that respects the dignity and rights of each individual.
Skills
Strong background in patient care, particularly with children or individuals requiring special education support.
Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum, demonstrating understanding and effective communication strategies.
Proficiency in medication administration, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis principles to facilitate behavioural improvement.
Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing challenging situations or behaviours.
A compassionate approach combined with a commitment to promoting independence among clients.
