As a Mental Health Support Worker specializing in Eating Disorders, you will be integral to the care and recovery of individuals dealing with eating disorders. You will offer compassionate support, monitor progress, and assist in creating a safe and encouraging environment to aid individuals in their recovery journey. Your key responsibilities will include: Providing tailored support to individuals with eating disorders, helping them develop healthier attitudes toward food and body image. Assisting in the monitoring and assessment of progress and challenges in their recovery. Working closely with mental health professionals such as dietitians, therapists, and psychologists to implement individualized care plans. Supporting individuals in engaging with therapy sessions and group activities. Offering emotional support to individuals during meal times and ensuring a non-judgmental, compassionate approach. Promoting self-care practices and providing practical support for daily routines. Encouraging positive coping strategies to manage emotions and prevent harmful behaviors. Maintaining accurate records and updating the care team on individuals well-being. Ensuring all safeguarding protocols are adhered to and promoting a safe, supportive environment. What We Are Looking For To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience in supporting individuals with eating disorders or related mental health challenges. A strong understanding of the complexities surrounding eating disorders and their psychological impact. Compassion, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Previous experience in a mental health support role or relevant qualifications in health and social care. Ability to manage difficult situations in a calm and supportive manner. A flexible approach, with the ability to work shifts as required (including nights and weekends).
