Metrology Engineer focuses on carry out dimensional inspections of forged and machined aerospace components using blue‑light scanning systems, cmms, and other metrology tools.

What the role involves

  • Carry out dimensional inspections of forged and machined aerospace components using blue‑light scanning systems, CMMs, and other metrology tools.
  • Maintain inspection programs and workflows to support Machining, Forge, and Aerostructures value streams.
  • Perform detailed analysis of 3D measurement data, including surface deviation reports, GD&T evaluation.
  • Process trend analysis, to support quality and engineering decisions.
  • Provide metrology support for NPI projects, including measurement feasibility and inspection method development for new forgings and machined parts.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure that measurement strategies align with customer requirements.

Skills and requirements

  • Proven capability with blue‑light 3D scanning systems, including fixture setup and scanning methodology.
  • Ability to confidently read technical drawings, understand aerospace tolerances, and work with complex CAD data.
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate measurement findings clearly to the engineering team management.
  • Ability to analyse detailed SPC data methodically and consistently to conclude.
