Advanced Manufacturing (Sheffield) Limited (AML) is an advanced machining supplier focused on aerofoil and rotative components. We are at the leading edge of machining technologies and are dedicated to delivering efficiency and reduced cycle times for our clients in the aerospace sector. Our advanced milling, turning and 5-axis capacity enables us to machine a wide range of products including bespoke ring, casing, gearbox, aerofoil and aerostructure components. To date, we have manufactured components for Rolls-Royce, Boeing, Siemens, Bombardier and are looking to expand our machining capabilities over the coming year. The Position of Metrology Engineer: Conduct inspection using CMM and other metrology equipment to verify product compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. Develop, validate, and maintain programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure accurate measurements. Optimize measurement strategies to improve efficiency and accuracy. Perform Gauge R&R’s. Collaborate with engineering teams to analyse product manufacturability. Develop and execute measurement control plans, First Articles Inspection Reports (FAIR). Interpret and analyse engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications. Apply advanced measurement techniques to validate processes and improve product quality. Develop and document standard operating procedures for metrology and inspection processes. Lead investigations into non-conformance issues and customer complaints, providing detailed root cause analysis and corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related challenges effectively. Interface with customers to understand and address quality concerns, providing timely resolutions and technical insights. Generate and issue quality statistics and communicate findings across the teams. Support the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks in processes and products. Implement preventive measures to mitigate identified risks. Enforce the quality disciplines and awareness of customer requirements throughout the business. Adhere to company Health & Safety. Promote effective communication between your functional areas and other areas of the business. The Person Specification for Metrology Engineer: Highly motivated individual. Excellent attention to detail. Mitutoyo MCOSMOS Programming. Ziess Calypso Programming. Educated to a Grade C or above in English and Mathematics at GCSE Level or equivalent. Experience within working in a Team Environment. Relevant CMM Programming experience minimum 3 years. Experience within an aerospace environment. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Excellent organisation skills. IT skills, including Microsoft packages. Ability to use own initiative. Ability to manage own time effectively.
