NELFT is the largest provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHST's) in England. The service is continuing to grow, currently covering 48% of secondary and primary schools within our footprint.

The MHST delivers evidence-based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, with a strong focus on whole school approaches.

This vacancy is for the North-East Team which covers Colchester, Clacton and Harwich.

Main duties of the job We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner with current UK Professional Registration to join our Mental Health Support Team (MHST).

In this post, you will be a senior clinical team member, holding a caseload and supervising junior staff including trainees. You will work alongside partner agencies to co-produce training materials and support the delivery of whole school approach interventions.

The successful applicant will be enrolled on the EMHP Supervisors Course where required. This training is funded as part of the MHST program.

Main Duties of the Job:

Work in partnership with schools, children, young people (CYP), and families in the development of plans for interventions and agreed outcomes.

Support the Locality Clinical Lead with the formulation, treatment and management plans for schools, parents and CYP using a range of psychological interventions appropriate to the service.

Effectively manage a caseload of CYP with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, complete thorough assessments, risk assessments, care plans and reviews.

Provide caseload management and clinical skills supervision to Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners, Education Mental Health Practitioners and Senior Mental Health Practitioners.

Work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team within your locality but also with other MHSTs within Essex.

Work as part of a team and autonomously.

About us NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. New starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Job responsibilities The Senior Clinician will be a graduate qualified health care professional, ideally with formal CBT training, for example:

Qualified CBT Therapist

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)

Or substantial Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) clinical experience including delivery of CBT interventions and fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC, BABCP).

This Senior Clinician and Supervisor will work closely with the MHST Clinical Lead, the MHST Operational Manager, and other clinical colleagues/partner agencies.

The role is predominantly supervisory. However, the post holder will deliver clinical interventions, both targeted and under the Whole School Approach, to maintain professional registrations and continue to develop. The post holder will need to remain current in evidence-based interventions and have a good working knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Supervisors are also key to service development in progressing and adapting interventions to ensure we are an inclusive service and contributing to research and development of the MHSTs nationally.

Person Specification Qualifications

Successful completion of a graduate training (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy) and eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body NMC, HCPC, BABCP AFT, ACP.

Further professional knowledge gained through accredited courses, workshops, study, and in-house training programmes (e.g. CYP- IAPT training).

Completion of EMHP or IAPT Supervisory Course.

Experience

At least 2 years experience of working with evidence-based approaches to low mood, anxiety and behaviour problems with children and young people.

Experience of managing and providing supervision.

Experience of caseload management.

Ability to work with partner agencies in developing and co-producing materials for presentations.

Experience working with or in educational settings.

Knowledge

Knowledge of CYP IAPT and the benefits of low intensity work.

Knowledge of CYP IAPT outcome measures (ROMS).

Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and mental health policy, and procedures.

Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and evaluate risk and act accordingly to ensure safety.

Knowledge of Systmone.

Skills

Effectively manage a clinical caseload.

Ability to write concise and informative reports and letters.

Ability to use and interpret outcome measures to monitor intervention effectiveness. Competent ICT skills to collect and interpret data, for reports, presentations, and service performance.

Ability to keep accurate and high-quality records.

Ability to deliver workshops to professionals, young people, and/or parents/carers.

Ability to form excellent working relationships with colleagues and work flexibly in multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings.

Ability to motivate, guide and support staff to develop.

Ability to provide culturally sensitive support and supervision.

Other

To be able to travel efficiently throughout the area.
