Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Mindworks has an exciting opportunity to join our Mental Health Support team as a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (SWP). The SWP role is a new role within the low intensity workforce, to develop clinical skillset, supervision skills and career progression. These roles are funded by Health Education England (HEE). The successful candidates will be training on the Postgraduate Diploma Senior (CWP/EMHP) Wellbeing Practice (SWP) and carrying out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills. The course will be offered at The University of Southampton.

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health practitioners to work and train within our service. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based intervention consistent with the course they are attending. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The SWP role will be based in Guildford (Base Farnham Road Hospital).

Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity for qualified CWP/EMHPs, who are two years post qualification in January 2025, to develop as a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner and supervisor.

Within the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), you will provide evidence-based interventions, mental health promotion and prevention activities to support children, young people, and families accessing Surrey Mindworks. Supporting trainees and newly qualified CWPs/EMHPs through joint working, clinical skills groups, and supervision. Delivering evidence-based 1-1 and group interventions for children, young people and their parents/carers that present with mental health difficulties.

This post comes with a mandatory 2 year parallel Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (SWP) advance clinical skills and supervisor training program at KCL or the University of Southampton, requiring successful completion for this role. The EMHP supervision course is designed to provide the EMHP supervisor with comprehensive training in the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver effective clinical supervision as part of the MHST initiative. Applicant criteria include substantive knowledge and experience of wellbeing delivery within education settings and/or CBT / Low Intensity CBT interventions.

Job responsibilities Providing early intervention, promotion and prevention activities that supports children, young people, and families in schools and community settings including Primary Care. Supporting trainee and newly qualified CWPs through joint working, clinical skills groups, and supervision. Delivering evidence-based 1-1 and group interventions for children, young people and their parents/carers that present with moderate mental health difficulties.

Ability to travel is essential due to travelling between schools, university and office base.

Person Specification Qualifications

CYP - MH Post-Graduate Diploma or Certificate (CWP/EMHP) with two years post qualification experience within the CYP-MH model by January 2023

Evidence of CPD relevant to working with CYP in schools or community settings

Experience

Experience and ability to function as a practitioner in CYP mental health services

Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with CYP's with mild to moderate mental health problems and their families using CBT or CBT informed GSH

Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload.

Evidence of good practice in CAMHS assessment facilitation, including assessing: risk behaviour, impact of the lived experience, systemic functioning and managing difference in the clinical space

Evidence of providing culturally adapted interventions.

Experience in design and delivery of workshops, groups and interventions to CYP target audience.

Evidence of experience of clinical governance, Outcome Measures and audits.

Working with families in a diverse environment

Experience in working as part of an MDT

Experience of undertaking qualitative and quantitative research methodology

Experience of supervising junior staff or trainees

Experience in working with children and adolescents with Special Educational Needs.

Experience of working with children and adolescents with learning disability or ASD.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

An understanding and insight into national policy such as the following: The Children Act 1989, 2004 and The Mental Health Act 1983, 2007, Human Rights Act 1998 and Mental Capacity Act 2005

Child protection procedures and Safeguarding

Information governance including rules around GDPR as it relates to clinical confidentiality, information sharing and academia.

Ability to analyse risk and respond appropriately, seeking support as necessary

Ability to work under pressure

Good written and verbal presentation skills

Evidence of competency in clinical judgement

Ability to work to short deadlines, take on new concepts and be innovative.

Proven ability as a reflective practitioner and ability to effect change based on lessons learnt.

Demonstrate an ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Good IT skills and able to manage digital resources.

Ability to provide virtual and face to face interventions according to target audience needs.

Proven ability to engage therapeutically with the client group, using a range of therapeutic interventions.

Skills in teaching and supporting parents.

Evidence of organisational skills to deliver targets and meet deadlines

Proven ability to work flexibly within a changing environment

Skills in teaching and supporting trainees.

Research, audit and quality improvement methodologies
