The Role: Mid-Weight Designer

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Mid-Weight Designer to lead and support the design and delivery of new restaurant openings. You will develop brand-aligned design concepts and oversee their execution, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. This fast-paced role requires expertise in the fit-out process, material selection, and the ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership:
    • Lead the design process, creating detailed documentation like floor plans, sketches, and 3D models.
    • Present design concepts to senior management, incorporating feedback into final designs.
  • Project Coordination & Management:
    • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, collaborating with project managers, contractors, and suppliers.
    • Conduct site visits to ensure design intent is met and troubleshoot design challenges.
  • Fit-Out & Installation Oversight:
    • Review shop drawings and oversee FF&E selection, procurement, and installation.
    • Ensure all materials and finishes meet budget, brand standards, and functional needs.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
    • Work closely with senior designers, construction teams, and operations to align designs with operational needs.
    • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors for smooth project execution.
  • Design Innovation & Standards:
    • Stay current on industry trends and sustainable practices, contributing to evolving design guidelines.

About You:

  • Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial or hospitality design, with a portfolio showcasing restaurant or retail environments.
  • Proven experience managing fast-track fit-out projects from concept to completion.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Revit.
  • Experience with 3D rendering software (e.g. Enscape, V-Ray).
  • Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, FF&E, and building codes.

Project Management Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple design projects under tight deadlines.
  • Experience troubleshooting design and construction issues effectively.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills for presenting ideas and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a creative, problem-solving mindset.

Other:

  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • A passion for restaurant design and customer experience.
