Full time
An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 midwife to join SFHFT in an exciting role within the sphere of diabetes in pregnancy. We are seeking an experienced Band 6 midwife to work closely with the Specialist Midwife for Diabetes, Lead obstetrician for diabetes and the wider Trust diabetic team. This role will involve working with women and birthing families across the region, supporting the wider team in the clinic environment and maintaining high standards of care for those experiencing diabetes during the pregnancy continuum.

The successful candidate will need to be compassionate, professional and passionate about supporting women. You will need to possess excellent midwifery knowledge and skills and be open to professional development opportunities. In addition, you will need to have clinical credibility to enable you to support the Maternity Unit in times of escalation and to support colleagues in providing the highest standard of care for our women, babies, and families. This involves adhering to local, regional, and national guidelines, while meeting the objectives of the national maternity agenda.

You will play a pivotal role within the maternity diabetic team working closely with midwives, the endocrine team and other services and partner agencies. You will provide care and advice for pregnant women both over the telephone and in the clinical environment. You will provide education sessions for women in antenatal clinics and advocate for them ensuring they receive woman-centred care.

You will collaborate with the Specialist Midwife for diabetes in the development of pathways, policies and processes for women with diabetes. You will support the delivery of mandatory and adhoc training for staff and will participate in clinical audit programmes.

Sherwood Forest Hospital is nationally recognised as being an excellent place to work and deliver care. We are rightly proud of the 5,500 colleagues who work here and we are the Health Service Journal's Trust of the Year in 2020.

We would love you to join us.
