The Maternity Department at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, rated as Good in all areas (CQC, September 2021), is looking for motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Midwives to join their Maternity Team.

Here at Rotherham, you will be supported to complete our induction package and will be afforded full rotational opportunities. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants can travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Main duties of the job

Approximately 2500 babies are born each year at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We offer women personalised care and choice of home birth, midwifery-led care, and multi-disciplinary care on our Labour Ward. We are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality services to the women and families accessing our care.

Our maternity service is continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of the population and ensure women and their families have a positive birthing experience. We are a very friendly and supportive team who welcome innovative ways of working and new ideas.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Diploma/Degree level or equivalent Completed Preceptorship programme or equivalent Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Documented evidence of continued appropriate studies Practice Supervisor Training completed Certificate of Competency for IV Cannulation Certificate of Competency for IV Additives & Administration Certificate of Competency for Perineal Suturing

Desirable

Further relevant development to postgraduate certificate or equivalent. Neonatal examination of the new-born certificate or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

Post registration experience as a practising midwife having gained knowledge in all aspects of the pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Band 6 competencies evidence

Knowledge

Essential

Must be capable of carrying out physical activities required for the job.

Desirable

Understands Risk Management and Complaints procedures. Up to date with the NHS Agenda, national directives, and all Governance aspects.
