Main duties of the job
The roles cover seven days per week, 12 hours per day, and on a shift basis. The Midwife is responsible for training junior staff and the safe and effective running of the EPAU, encouraging good working relationships and teamwork.
Requires skills and knowledge necessary to perform obstetric ultrasound and independently report the findings. Plan appropriate patient management according to Directorate Guidelines. Provide continuity of care to women who regularly attend the department for close monitoring. Ensure that the patient environment is conducive to the delivery of care. Be responsible for specialised ultrasound clinics with indirect supervision from consultant colleagues.

Contribute to the development and update of guidelines and pathways.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
Experience in performing ultrasound assessments and compassionate delivery of diagnosis in a clinical setting. A midwife sonographer, with a focus on early pregnancy care.
Desirable
Skills to perform a range of obstetric scans including anomaly, growth scans, Doppler.
Qualifications
Essential
PGC in obstetrics/gynaecology ultrasound. First degree or equivalent and related study. Registered Midwife/Sonographer. Post Grad Certificate in obstetric ultrasound. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable
Accredited counselling certificate. Nurse prescribing qualification. GCP Trained. Delegated Consent training.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
A midwife/nurse sonographer, with a focus on early pregnancy care. Experience in performing ultrasound assessments and compassionate delivery of diagnosis in a clinical setting. Proficient in operating ultrasound equipment and interpreting ultrasound images and diagnosis.
