JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 36 year old man living in Treforest with my family. I love anything to do with cars, especially going out for a drive up to Clydach lakes or to Aberdare Country Park. I enjoy going out into the community to do social activities. I have a learning disability and my mobility is limited which means I need to use a wheelchair for longer periods of walking. I like having a bit of banter and I really enjoy watching a local pantomime. I’m generally a happy person and enjoy using my phone on Facebook. I prefer being out of the house and socialising with my peers. I don’t have very good grip with my hands so you will need to help me tying my shoelaces or zipping up my jacket.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My current PA is due to have an operation and reduce hours, so we are looking for another PA to work alongside my current PAs and increase hours gradually. I would like a personal assistant to enable me to experience more social activities out in the community such as bowling and going for meals while ensuring my safety and wellbeing at all times.

TASKS WILL INCLUDE

Supporting me to participate in activities Driving me to places of my choosing Pushing me in my wheelchair Personal care which is only on occasions Taking me to appointments like the hospital or a haircut

HOURS OF WORK

There are up to 6 hours per week on a weekend available with the possibility of this increasing in the future.

RATES OF PAY

£12.20 per hour plus mileage where appropriate.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

Someone energetic and outgoing Someone who can drive me to the places I want to visit Someone who is flexible and reliable Someone who will enjoy the time we spend together Someone who can drive and owns their own car

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
